1923 has been renewed for a second season. On Feb. 3, Paramount+ made the news official during the midseason break in Season 1, but did not provide any details on when we can expect it, who will be returning, how many episodes there will be, or what it will be about (which makes sense given that Season 1 isn't even over yet!).
TV Guide's Liam Mathews reviewed the 1923 series premiere, calling it "an ambitious undertaking with a ton of potential that will give fans of Yellowstone a series that at times feels familiar and other times feels like it's expanding what Yellowstone can be.
"The spin-off, which was originally titled 1932 before producers changed the year in which it's set, takes place during the Prohibition era following World War I, with Montana experiencing an economic collapse ahead of the Great Depression. This sets the story about 30 or 35 years before the birth of Kevin Costner's character, John Dutton III, and about 40 years after the events of 1883.
The official show description reads, "1923 focuses on the Dutton family's next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and Prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana's great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade."
