Fans of Yellowstone have been bombarded with exciting news lately, from the prequels set in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to the drama behind the scenes of the original series. In 2021, Paramount+ revealed plans for another spinoff called 6666 or Four Sixes (working title). The creator of the Yellowstone universe, Taylor Sheridan, has purchased the actual Four Sixes ranch in Texas, which has given the spinoff a whole new significance for him. So, what do we know about this new addition to the Dutton family saga? Unfortunately, Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date for 6666. Although Jimmy Hurdstrom's life at the ranch received significant screen time in the first half of Yellowstone's fifth season, it appears that the spinoff may not be happening anytime soon.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan explained that owning the property has given him a fresh perspective on the show. He stated, "That, for a number of reasons, needs a unique level of special care because this is a real place with real families working here. You have to respect the lineage. I’ve told [the studio] to be patient." Unlike Yellowstone, 6666 will be set at a ranch in Texas known as the 6666 (Four Sixes). In a press release on February 24, 2021, Paramount+ provided some insight into the show's premise: "Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666.
Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing…The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world class cowboys are born and made." This limited information is enough to generate excitement among fans.Unfortunately, none of the current cast members from Yellowstone will appear in 6666, as it takes place over a century in the past. However, viewers can look forward to seeing superstars Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Sam Elliott in the new series.
It is possible that some fan-favorite characters from the Dutton ranch could make appearances in 6666, but Paramount+ has not made any casting announcements. Outsider reports that Ryan Bingham and Jefferson White will reprise their roles as Walker and Jimmy Hurdstrom, respectively. Given Jimmy's storyline in season 5, where he is sent to the 6666 ranch after a falling out with John Dutton, it seems likely that his character will continue in the new spinoff. Jimmy's girlfriend Emily, played by Katherine Kelly, may also be involved. To watch 6666, viewers will need to subscribe to Paramount+, the streaming service that is also home to 1883 and 1923. The subscription costs $5.99 per month for limited commercials or $9.99 per month for an ad-free experience. Additionally, viewers have the option to bundle Paramount+ with Showtime for $11.99 per month. With all this exciting news about the Yellowstone spinoff, fans can't help but get excited to see what 6666 has in store for them.
