Taylor Sheridan’s ‘6666’: Everything We Know So Far About The ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Including The Release Date, Trailer & More
2023/11/15

Taylor Sheridan is continuing his streak of successful TV shows with even more projects in the works. While the original series Yellowstone is set to end after Season 5, more spinoffs are on the horizon. Two prequels to Yellowstone have already been released. 1883 stars Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Billy Bob Thornton, while 1923 is returning for Season 2 with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. In addition, Matthew McConaughey will be starring in a Yellowstone-associated series, although details about the show are being kept under wraps. One of the upcoming spinoffs is 6666, the title of which refers to the real-life 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas.

This ranch inspired Beth Dutton in a Season 5 episode of Yellowstone to sell Yellowstone-branded beef. The new series will focus on the lives of the cowboys residing on the ranch, potentially featuring the same soap-opera drama as the original show. The 6666 Ranch is a legendary establishment that spans an area twice the size of Chicago. In 2022, Sheridan became the owner of the ranch, reportedly purchasing it for $320 million and gathering $300 million in investments for Yellowstone-related projects. The ranch has already been used as a filming location for 1883, and it's possible that Sheridan holds cowboy camps there prior to production.

The official synopsis for 6666 describes the ranch as a historical landmark that dates back to the time of the Comanches in West Texas. It continues to operate as it did centuries ago, maintaining an entire county. The series aims to explore the merging of law and nature in this place where every action is fraught with danger. The ranch's reputation for breeding top-quality horses and livestock, as well as producing world-class cowboys, is well-known.

Casting details for 6666 remain undisclosed, with no confirmation on whether Yellowstone actors Ryan Bingham and Jefferson White will reprise their ranch-hand roles in the spinoff.

Unfortunately, there is no specific release date for 6666 yet. Production has been delayed due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. However, viewers can hope for a 2024 release on Paramount+.

While there is no trailer available for 6666, Taylor Sheridan has shared his thoughts on authenticity and his approach to ranching, emphasizing his dedication to the craft.
