In the series premiere of The Walking Dead: Dead City, Maggie and Negan team up to rescue Hershel, who has been abducted by the Croat, a former Savior. However, they also have to contend with Negan being a wanted man by the New Babylon marshals for multiple crimes, including murder. Meanwhile, Manhattan is now infested with thousands of zombies and is one of the most dangerous places in the zombie apocalypse. The Hilltop community has been relocated since the end of The Walking Dead, and a new settlement called New Babylon has been introduced. Additionally, Negan has been separated from Annie and their child, with their whereabouts unknown.
