Roberts will be involved in the prequel series, which will delve into a time when love was considered a luxury. In terms of the final season, it will be based on Gabaldon's book Written in My Own Heart's Blood and will follow the events of the eighth book in the series.

The author has plans for a tenth installment to conclude the book series. Outlander is set to return for Season 7, with a teaser trailer released showcasing the returning cast members and new additions. The finale of Season 6 left viewers with intense cliffhangers, and Season 7 will delve further into the challenges faced by the characters. The new season is set to premiere in the summer of 2023.
