Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe almost didn't play the role of Claire Fraser. Other cast members, Nell Hudson and Laura Donnelly, were also considered for the role. Hudson is known for her portrayal of Laoghaire MacKenzie in the series, while Donnelly plays Jamie's sister Jenny Murray. Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, admitted to auditioning with both actresses. Outlander season seven is currently on hiatus and will not return until 2024.
