Fans of The Walking Dead were overjoyed when Rick and Michonne finally realized their love for each other during the show's sixth season. Now, AMC is releasing a new spinoff called The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which will continue their epic love story. But when did these two characters first meet?

During season 3, episode 6, "Hounded," Michonne appeared at the prison fence where Rick and his group lived. She had witnessed the abduction of Glenn and Maggie by Merle, who was taking them to the town of Woodbury. Rick spotted Michonne among the walkers, disguised in walker guts, carrying the supplies that Glenn and Maggie were collecting for baby Judith.

In the next episode, Michonne begins killing the walkers but passes out from a gunshot wound inflicted by Merle. Rick and Carl save her and bring her into the prison.

At first, Michonne was suspicious of the group, and her first meeting with Rick was not pleasant. But as time went on, they learned to rely on each other and developed a strong bond based on trust, honesty, and friendship. This was a significant departure from Rick's relationship with his late wife, Lori.

In season 9, when Michonne believed Rick had died in a bridge explosion, she was devastated. However, she carried on for their daughter, Judith, and gave birth to their son, R.

J. Later, Michonne discovered that Rick was alive and set out to find him.

The Walking Dead series finale offered fans a glimpse into what had happened to the characters since they left the show. Now, on February 25, 2024, AMC will premiere The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, continuing the story of Rick and Michonne's love for each other.
