"We loved that it called back without ever being explicit."
In season four opener 'The One with the Jellyfish', Jennifer Aniston's Rachel Green tells David Schwimmer's Ross Geller: "It's not that common, it doesn't happen to every guy and it is a big deal!"
In conversation with , executive producer Greg Malins shared the origins of Rachel's slam – and it's every bit as rude as you always suspected.
"They were insulting each other back and forth," Malins noted. "And I had this idea in my head, [Rachel] says, 'Well one time, when you prematurely ejaculated, I told you it was okay and it wasn't.'"
According to fellow exec Adam Chase, this was a direct nod to "the juice box moment" in season two's 'The One Where Ross and Rachel... You Know'.
"We all knew exactly what [it] meant, and we loved that it called back to an iconic moment without ever being explicit," he added.
Meanwhile, Malins also explained: "It was the only time I'd ever written down my [joke] before I pitched. I remember thinking, 'If I don't pitch this exactly right, it's not gonna get in.'"
Once delivered, the joke was expanded in the writers room, as Chase himself recalled: "On , it was so wildly collaborative. I remember yelling at each other in the room as the characters."
After making love in Rachel's bedroom, the pair quickly fall out after she discovers Ross didn't actually read the letter she wrote him about whether they were 'on a break' or not.
As they hastily dress and throw insults at each other, Rachel shouts: "It's not that common, it doesn't happen to every guy and it is a big deal!"
Now, Friends executive producer Greg Malins has revealed the meaning behind the comment, telling Entertainment Weekly: "They were insulting each other back and forth.

Fellow executive Adam Chase also explained this was a nod to the moment in season two’s The One Where Ross and Rachel... You Know, where Ross rolls over a carton of juice as he and Rachel were about to get intimate in the planetarium.
Greg also revealed he wasn’t sure if the risqué joke would make it past the other writers, explaining: “It was the only time I’d ever written down my [joke] before I pitched. I remember thinking, ‘If I don’t pitch this exactly right, it’s not gonna get in.’”
However, the scene could have looked very different entirely, as last week, supporting star Jane Sibbett .
The actor, who ended up playing Ross’ ex-wife Carol, revealed things didn’t work out because she was pregnant at the time, with later awarded the part.
