Taylor Sheridan Wanted ‘Yellowstone’ And ‘1923’ Music To Reflect Beauty Of West, Composers Brian Tyler And Breton Vivian Say!
16/05/2023

Composer Brian Tyler and his colleague Breton Vivian discussed their work on the music for Yellowstone and its prequel, 1923. Tyler explained how show creator Taylor Sheridan wanted orchestral music that explored the dark side of the story as well as its beauty. Vivian talked about using his punk rock background to create a rugged Western sound for 1923. Both composers aimed to capture the music of the West as played by immigrants and cast-offs rather than Hollywood's idea of a Western soundtrack. Their goal was to evoke strong emotions in viewers and bring authenticity to the music.
