1923: The Undeniable Proof That Season 2 of 1883 Was Doomed from the Start

Taylor Sheridan, creator of the hit TV series Yellowstone, explained why there was no second season for its prequel 1883. The season finale closed the chapter on the Dutton family's journey and there was no need for a continuation. Instead, Sheridan retooled the concept into a new series called 1923, set decades later on the same ranch. While not as well-crafted as 1883, further spinoffs exploring different eras in the Dutton family are planned. The surviving characters from 1883 were given an epilogue in flashbacks during the fourth season of Yellowstone.
