Fear the Walking Dead season 8 rendered a major storyline pointless with the death of Charlie. Despite her return in the second episode of the back half of the season, her character was killed off to stop Troy. This twist negated the radiation sickness arc that Charlie had in season 7, where her imminent death was established. The plotline became irrelevant as Charlie miraculously survived her illness offscreen, only to ultimately sacrifice herself. However, her return was necessary to reveal the truth about her role in Nick's death to Madison.
