Fans of the show may have noticed a special connection between Spencer and his late sister Elsa from the prequel "1883." Sklenar revealed that he suggested Spencer carry a knife that once belonged to Elsa, which was gifted to her by her Comanche tribesman husband.
The knife symbolizes Elsa's influence on Spencer, despite being long dead before he was born. Sklenar also shared that building a rich backstory for his character was important in bringing him to life on screen. "1923" is now available to stream on Paramount+.
